Revival?
I'm becoming more prayerful on the subject of revival. Everywhere, in the country that I live in, I see the results of straying from the narrow way. In the last few years, the government has enacted legislation that has kept bars open virtually 24 hours a day, has allowed gambling to increase and has destroyed all barriers of decency in relationships. It is not hard to find reasons for this, given the sinful nature of man, but I guess that we, the church, must shoulder the main part of the blame.
There is an increasing lack of zeal for evangelism in the church. Across this world, 150,000 people die each day and we, the church, look on, paralyzed by fear of offending those to whom we preach the Gospel.
We watch in fascination and fear as other religions increase in number and atheism runs rampant over the popular media. For years, we have let our spiritual weapons rust and decay whilst the enemies of God have been sharpening theirs.
Revival comes when God's people are at their lowest ebb. Things seem grim and the forces of Satan look poised to win the day. Pray for the Word to pierce the souls of the lost and create a hunger and thirst for righteousness in our land.
One day, we shall give account of those that we have preached to. What will Jesus say to you on that day? His concern will not be for how many times you read popular Christian literature. He will express no interest in how many times you attended church committee meetings. His concern will be for how you dealt with those who were in need; the hungry, the stranger, the naked, the prisoner. Matthew 25:33-46 shows us that our mission is to the lost of this world. The world that we live in elevates the rich and famous and has little interest in anyone else. Riches and fame are short-lived and empty things. In Mark 8:36, Jesus says " For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"Weep o’er the erring one, lift up the fallen,
Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save
